SWANA is now accepting submissions for its 2021 Safety Awards, including for a new category recognizing the best agency or company response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a SWANA Safety Ambassador, you are urged to promote the awards within your Chapter and via your professional network.
There is no fee to enter, but the applicant must be a SWANA member. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, June 30 and winners will be recognized at WASTECON® 2021 in Orlando, Florida, November 1-3, 2021.
Please share this information with Chapter members. Include information about the awards program in future Chapter communications, like emails or newsletters. A link should also be added to your Chapter’s website. Please speak about the awards at your Chapter meetings and other events. Your assistance with promoting the program is one of the most effective ways that we can increase the pool of applicants this year.
SWANA would like to thank this year’s award program sponsors, Caterpillar, New Way, Peterbilt, and Safe Fleet. Their support of this program is invaluable and demonstrates their ongoing commitment to industry safety. Thanks are also due to the SWANA Safety Committee that manages this program each year.
If you have any questions about the Safety Awards or thoughts on how to better promote the program, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

SWANA's new Safety Awards program is part of the association's renewed emphasis on sharing examples of programs for worker safety and health that can be emulated by others. Will YOUR organization's safety program be one of the first to be honored?
The new Safety Awards program includes two categories: Best Safety Innovation and Biggest Safety Improvement. These awards recognize organizations that are demonstrating a commitment to safety through thoughtful and original safety initiatives.
Members of SWANA’s Technical Divisions’ Safety and Award Committees will serve as judges. SWANA intends to present trophies to a winner and runner up in both categories at its annual WASTECON® conference, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
